Ruby Chat review: what it actually is

Ruby Chat is an AI girlfriend and roleplay app that, by its listing description, comes in free and premium versions for iOS and Android, labeled version 2.5.0. TAAFT lists the platform as Web, so confirm which you get. The pros users list describe what you do: give characters unique attributes, build custom scenarios, create a persona for yourself, and get personalized replies that can include images in the conversation. Multilingual support is another listed pro, though a con caps it at 9 languages. It suits people who like setting up a scenario and a persona and who want a phone-first app. The cons are modest: no desktop version, no offline use, visuals limited to images, and a need for personal data in order to personalize.

Ruby Chat is among the smallest listings on this site. It has about 7,200 all-time views on There's An AI For That, ranking 90th of 98 apps, and it is gaining about 670 views a month on There's An AI For That between our 20 Jul and 8 Oct 2026 snapshots. Semrush estimates about 50 US searches a month for 'ruby chat', which is a generic two-word phrase, so we cannot say how many of those searchers want this app. Eight people have saved the listing. The picture is a small, niche product with almost no public footprint in our data. For someone choosing, that means very few ratings and very little independent coverage to check, so you will rely mostly on the app store page and the terms.

Ruby Chat is rated 3.6 out of 5 from 11 ratings on TAAFT, a very small sample. Six are five stars, about 55%, 2 are four stars and 3 are one star, about 27%, with nobody choosing two or three stars. So 3 of the 11 ratings are one or two stars. The pros people list are character attributes, custom scenarios, a persona tool, personalized interactions and multilingual support, along with data confidentiality and user data encryption, which are user-reported pros that our data does not verify. The cons are limits: no desktop version, a cap of 9 languages, visuals limited to images, no offline use, and a requirement for personal data to personalize. With 11 ratings, a few votes change the picture.

TAAFT lists Ruby Chat as Freemium, with paid options from $4.99 a month, billed monthly. The refund field says No Refunds, and the listing links to a Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. The TAAFT listing does not say what the free tier includes, what the premium tier unlocks or whether there is an annual plan, and no discount code is listed. The description mentions both a premium and a free version, so expect some features to sit behind the subscription. Since refunds are not offered, use the free version first and pay one month at a time. Skip it on price if you want a money-back guarantee, or if you are uneasy about the con that says personalization requires personal data.

I tried this and so far it’s really promising. The characters feel real and unique and good to talk to. There is also some daily check in for collecting free “rubies” and you can win some images for free to unlock, that’s fun.

Ruby Chat FAQ

Is Ruby Chat free?

Partly. TAAFT lists the pricing model as Freemium, and the description mentions both a premium and a free version, with paid options from $4.99 a month. The TAAFT listing does not say what the free version includes, such as message limits or access to custom scenarios and personas. Check the official site or the app store page for the current free allowance. Because the refund policy is No Refunds, test the free version thoroughly before you pay for premium.

How much does Ruby Chat cost?

Paid options start at $4.99 a month, and TAAFT lists billing as monthly under a Freemium model. That is the only price point in the data we track, so we cannot say what higher tiers cost or what the premium plan unlocks. The listed refund policy is No Refunds. No annual plan or discount code appears. If you subscribe through an app store, check that store's own billing and cancellation rules too. Confirm the current price and what is included on the official site before you pay.

Who is Ruby Chat for?

It suits people who enjoy setting up scenarios and personas for an AI girlfriend roleplay. Users list unique character attributes, custom scenario creation, a persona creation tool, personalized interactions, images in the conversation and multilingual support as pros. The listing description mentions iOS and Android, though TAAFT lists the platform as Web. It fits less well if you want a desktop version, offline use, more than 9 languages or visuals beyond images, or if you are uneasy about the listed con that personalization requires personal data.

Ruby Chat review: what do users rate it?

TAAFT users rate Ruby Chat 3.6 out of 5 from only 11 ratings. Six are five stars, about 55%, and 3 are one star, about 27%, so the small sample is mixed. The pros are unique character attributes, custom scenarios, a persona tool and multilingual support, plus data confidentiality and encryption as reported by users. The cons are no desktop version, a cap of 9 languages, visuals limited to images, no offline use and a need for personal data. These are TAAFT user reports, not findings from us.

Can I get a refund on Ruby Chat or cancel?

TAAFT lists the refund policy as No Refunds, so the data we track gives no route to money back. Billing is monthly, from $4.99. How cancellation works, whether access continues to the end of a paid month and how to delete your account and data are not covered by the data we track (the TAAFT listing and Semrush). Read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy that the listing links to, and check your account or app store settings. With refunds ruled out, pay for one month at a time.

What should I look for in a Ruby Chat alternative?

Start with the limits users list for Ruby Chat: no desktop version, a cap of 9 languages, visuals limited to images, no offline use and a requirement for personal data. Pick the ones that matter to you and look for an alternative that avoids them. Ruby Chat costs from $4.99 a month with no refunds, so compare entry price, billing and whether a refund policy is stated. Its strengths are custom scenarios, personas and multilingual support, so check that an alternative offers them. Finally, compare ratings and the number behind them: Ruby Chat has 11.
